At a council meeting on July 3, 2025, it was determined that Prof. Abanikanda forced students to work up to 16 hours daily without breaks or essentials—even during heavy rain—and subjected female students to harassment.

In addition, allegations include threats, abusive language, unauthorized money collection, and misuse of funds from farm produce (over ₦10.6 million) by a second dismissed lecturer, Dr. Khadeejah Kareem-Ibraheem.

LASU in its statement affirmed its commitment to restoring integrity and safety within its academic environment.
