JCI Ibadan Trains Young Leaders In Leadership And Life Skills

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan has concluded the 10th edition of the Muyiwa Bamgbose Academy (MBA), its flagship leadership bootcamp for secondary school prefects across Ibadan.
Held at Queens School Ibadan from August 11–15, the Academy featured training on leadership, emotional intelligence, civic responsibility, business development, financial literacy, and vocational skills.
President of JCI Ibadan, JCIN Ambassador Olajumoke Adelabu, said over 2,000 scholars have benefitted from the Academy since 2016.
“With the support of our partners, including the Educational Advancement Centre (EAC) which provides A-Level scholarships for outstanding participants, and the generosity of Nigerians who sponsored scholars and donated resources, we are raising a generation of prepared leaders,” she noted.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology commended the initiative, describing it as a platform that “demonstrates strong commitment to nurturing future leaders” and charged participants to “lead with integrity, innovate with passion, and strive for excellence.”
Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs pledged that the Oyo State Government would be part of the next edition, while acknowledging the honoree, Pastor Muyiwa Bamgbose, for his contributions to the education sector.
In his remarks, Pastor Bamgbose encouraged the scholars to put their knowledge to good use and take advantage of the A-Level scholarship opportunities available through EAC. A testimonial by Covenant Odedele, Students’ Union President of the University of Ibadan and MBA alumnus, added inspiration as he recalled how the Academy helped him overcome shyness and build lasting friendships.
Junior Chamber International Ibadan, a network of active young citizens aged 18–40, has remained at the forefront of promoting quality education in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Academy is organized in collaboration with the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, as well as the Post-Primary School Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).
