Rotary International Takes Malaria Treatment Of Children To Koko In Kebbi State

The Rotary International, under the umbrella of (PATH) Rotary Health Community Challenge, took its advocacy visit to Koko town in Koko-Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State during the week with the intention to test and treat Children under the ages of 5 of malaria and other related diseases.
In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune online, Doctor Dele Balogun a Medical Doctor who is the team lead of the organisation to Kebbi State, appealed to the government of Kebbi State to partners with Rotary international in its advocacy mission to the State to rid maleria attack among children in the State.
”My advice to Kebbi State government is to partner with us, because we are carrying out this advocacy in a limited areas, we are working in two LGAs and the State has 21 LGAs. Even in the two LGAs, we are working in three wards each.
”Therefore, it is very important that the government should provide the support so that all areas in the state can benefit from the projects.” He said.
Dr. Balogun said further that their programme in the LGA is for the Children under the ages of five years, ”we will test, and those who are positive will be treated as our treatment is free of charge”.
He wants parents, i.e., fathers and mothers, to be educated on how to prevent malaria diseases among children, adding that pregnant women should be encouraged to go and register at the primary health centres close to them.
The team lead however appreciate the turnout of people of the community, adding that their response have been very good, as many of them have asked questions, they have expressed their willingness to provide all support and intimate all their households to intimate them about the programmes.
Earlier, Rotarian Sakabu Sani Ahmed from Kano who spoke to the congregation in their local dialect, urged them to participate actively in the programmes as Rotary Health Community Challenge is in their midst to help them as government alone cannot provide the health care needs of its citizens.
