Lawmaker Suspended With Gbenga Daniel Apologises To Party, Pleads For Clemency

Three-time councillor in Sagamu Local Government, Hon Adekunle Folarin, has apologised to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State for the incidents leading to his suspension, urging it to lift the ban and give him an opportunity to prove his innocence.

Folarin, whose suspension was ratified by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party along that of the senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, Gbenga Daniel, in August following a report by Ward 6 of Sagamu Local Government which indicted him for committing anti-party activities and for shunning party summons to defend himself against the allegations, said his action was due to circumstances beyond his control.

In the letter addressed to the state chairman of the party and copied to Governor Dapo Abiodun and the APC chairman in Sagamu, Hon Rafiu Opaleye, among others, Folarin said: “I tender an unreserved apology for not honouring the invitation of my ward’s fact-finding committee due to situations beyond my control and hereby request for opportunity for my exculpatory evidence on this matter.

“Sir, I am confident that an investigation will reveal the truth of the matter and exonerate me.

“I would be grateful sir if you can consider lifting my suspension order while I assure you that I will continue to uphold the party’s values and work diligently with utmost loyalty as ever towards delivering my ward for the party in all upcoming elections and towards the growth of the party in all ramifications.”

When contacted, the Ogun APC Director of Publicity, Hon. Nuberu Olufemi confirmed the development and stated the matter would be deliberated by the relevant organ of the party.
