Beyond The Festivities: Jakande Engages In Community Service On Independence Day

Hon. Seyi Jakande, Executive Chairman of Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, celebrated Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day through meaningful community engagements, showcasing his commitment to service.

He started the day at the Toba Ajiboye Foundation’s Awa Ndupé Children’s Empowerment Celebration, a vibrant event designed to inspire the next generation. Organized by Mr. Toba Ajiboye, State Organising Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), this colorful gathering marks the beginning of a series of activities scheduled for October 1. It brought together parents, children, and community leaders to celebrate and inspire future leaders.

Joined by the council’s legislators, including Hon. Haruna Adeosun, Hon. Ipaye Ibrahim, Hon. Lookman Akinniyi, and Hon. Taye Shodipe Alakan, Jakande participated in distributing school supplies, toys, and essential items, aiming to encourage education and community empowerment among the young attendees.

Following the celebration, the Chairman conducted an inspection tour to address community needs and proper assessments of their conditions. He specifically examined several blocked drainage channels, assuring residents that immediate desilting efforts would commence to prevent flooding and enhance sanitation.

Later, Jakande attended the annual Independence celebration at Ori Pako Base, strengthening ties with grassroots organizers. Event leaders expressed gratitude for his presence and encouraged ongoing collaboration on initiatives benefiting children and the community.

In addition to these engagements, the Chairman participated in the 2025 football championship competition held at the Sanwo-Olu Sport Arena, Odi-Olowo, in commemoration of the Nigeria at 65 anniversary, further demonstrating his commitment to fostering community spirit and pride.
