Lagos Top Bureaucrat Dies In Auto Crash Four Days To Retirement, 60th Birthday

A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Lagos State civil service as a senior official, Mrs. Serifat Olubukola Talabi, died just four days before her scheduled retirement and 60th birthday celebration.

Mrs. Talabi, who served as the Director of Procurement at the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), was reportedly hit by a vehicle on Saturday, October 18, 2025, while attempting to cross the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp in Ibafo, Ogun State.

The late director had been full of excitement as she prepared for a double celebration — her “Thanksgiving Retirement and 60th Birthday”, which was scheduled for October 22, 2025, at the NERDC Conference Centre, NERDC Road, adjacent to the Fela Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos.

Invitation cards had already been distributed to colleagues, friends, and family members.

Sources close to the family described her death as “a cruel twist of fate,” coming just days before what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of her life.

Mrs. Talabi’s death has left her colleagues in shock, with tributes pouring in from various departments of the Lagos State Government.
