Real Estate Magnate, Olu Okeowo, Barred From Lagos Polo Club Over Alleged Assault
The Lagos Polo Club has placed an indefinite entry ban on real estate magnate Sir Olu Okeowo, following the alleged assault of a club staff member by one of his security aides during an event at the club’s Ikoyi premises.
In a statement issued Wednesday and signed by the Club’s Honourable Secretary, Mr. Adeyemi Oreagba, Okeowo was declared “barred from entry into the club premises, either as a guest or otherwise, until further notice.”According to the statement, the incident occurred last Saturday during the Reminisce Event hosted at the club grounds, when a security personnel attached to Okeowo “violently assaulted a staff member while he was performing his duty.”

Mr. Oreagba noted that such conduct violates one of the Polo Club’s key rules on decorum and member conduct.
The development has sparked mixed reactions within Lagos’ elite social circles, where Okeowo—Chairman of Gibraltar Group—is well known for his philanthropy, flamboyant lifestyle, and strong presence at high-profile events.
As of press time, neither Okeowo nor representatives of Gibraltar Group had publicly commented on the club’s decision.
