1ST RENEWED HOPE BASKETBALL TOURNEY:18 Teams Begin Battle For Honours, Huge Cash Prize

The first edition of the Renewed Hope Ikeja Federal Constituency Basketball Championship featuring 18 teams drawn from the eighteen political wards of the Ikeja Federal Constituency started Monday, at the basketball court of Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.
The basketball tournament which is sponsored by the Olawale Fadare, the Personal Assistant on General Duties to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and ably supported by a group of young professionals under the aegis of Young Professionals For Tinubu (YP4T), according to the organisers is aimed at gainfully engaging and empowering the youths in the Ikeja Federal Constituency, through sports particularly, at this auspicious moments of the nation’s life.
Hon. Francis Nkwo, Leader of the House Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area ( LCDA), while addressing players and officials during the official representation of jerseys to all the participating teams, admonished them to imbibe the spirit of play fairplay and be disciplined during and after the championship.
Tournament Coordinator Comrade Kenneth Agba on his part assured the teams and officials of a high quality and properly organised championship. Adding that the sponsor and other contributors, earnestly look forward to a brighter and better future in the game for the players.
He went on to reveal that the attractive prize monies, for the championship would see the top four teams receive N500k, N300k, N200k and N100k respectively, while the other fourteen teams who participated would receive N50k, each.
The championship which runs 24-30 November, 2025, features Ebun Comets, Hoops & Read Cantonment, Police Baton, Heat Kings, Bobcats,Raptors, Senators and Lite Academy.
Others are Warriors,Warlords, Estate King, Rookies B, Ogudu GRA, WASCOM, Rookies, Sport Nation and Leo Kareem Academy.
Meanwhile, the organisers also disclosed that the championship would feature Slam Dunk contest, 3-Point Shooting Challenge, Dance, music and Dj Sessions, Youth Talent Exhibition and Raffle draw and giveaways.
