Insecurity: Aiyedatiwa Unrelenting In Securing Ondo State- Lawson ……Approves Recruitment Of 500 New Amotekun Personnel

Comrade Olufemi Lawson, Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, on Friday announced the approval for the recruitment of additional 500 personnel into the state security network agency, Amotekun Corps.

Addressing selected journalists , Comrade Lawson described it as a major boost to the security of Ondo state.

According to Lawson,” the Governor’s directive is a bold and strategic response to emerging security dynamics,” and a clear demonstration of the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all residents of Ondo State.

He, however, explained that the new recruitment forms part of the series of landmark initiatives under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s OUR EASE Agenda, which places strong priority on security and peaceful coexistence as the foundation for economic growth and sustainable development.

Lawson recalled that since assumption of office, the Governor has consistently strengthened the state’s security architecture through Improved operational logistics for Amotekun, including new patrol vehicles, communication gadgets, and enhanced intelligence capacity. Closer inter-agency collaboration between Amotekun, the Police, DSS, NSCDC, and the Nigerian Military. Revitalization of community-based security frameworks, ensuring that local intelligence feeds directly into security operations. Increased funding and welfare support to motivate personnel and guarantee efficient service delivery.“These efforts are not isolated,” Lawson noted.

“They represent a deliberate and coordinated approach to keep Ondo State several steps ahead of internal and external threats.”

Lawson emphasized that Ondo State remains fully prepared to confront any form of aggression targeted at its people or territory.

He described the Governor’s posture as “decisive, proactive, and unyielding”, stressing that the security of citizens is non-negotiable.

“With the recruitment of these 500 additional officers, Ondo State is not only strengthening its defensive capacity but also demonstrating readiness to deter criminal elements before they strike,” he added.

Lawson also reaffirmed the Governor’s commitment to working closely with neighbouring governors, especially within the Southwest region, as well as the Federal Government, towards achieving a unified front against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and other national security challenges.

“In today’s Nigeria, no state can walk alone,” he said.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa believes strongly in regional cooperation and alignment with federal security initiatives. This synergy is essential in restoring peace across the country.”

The briefing further highlighted the administration’s resolve to strengthen collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, security stakeholders, and the general citizenry in the joint task of securing Ondo State.

Lawson urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to share useful intelligence with security agencies, noting that citizen participation remains one of the strongest tools in maintaining peace and order.

Comrade Lawson concluded by assuring the people of Ondo State that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration will continue to place the highest premium on their safety, and will not relent in implementing policies and initiatives that guarantee a peaceful and prosperous environment.

“The recruitment of 500 new Amotekun officers is just one among many steps. The government remains fully committed, fully prepared, and fully determined to ensure that Ondo State remains one of the safest in Nigeria,” he declared.
