Call For FIRS Chair, Zaach Adedeji , To Resign Unpatriotic- COSEG
The Coalition of Oodua Self Determination Groups, has condemned the call for the Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service, Dr Zaach Adedeji over unfounded lies as unpatrotic and uncalled for.
COSEG in a statement signed by its Secretary General, Rasaq Oladosu Obasola, maintained that it’s an attempt to cause confusion and draw back in the level of successes recorded so far.
According to COSEG, ” the so called Arewa Consultative Youth Movement displayed its penchant for heating up the polity and creating unnecessary tension where non exist.
“Apart from the fact that the group appears faceless going by its name, the motive behind such unpatrotic call should be better imagined given the achievements recorded so far by the FIRS under the watch of Dr Zaach Adedeji.
“First and foremost this group does not represent Arewa, neither does it represents any youths either.
“Secondly, to call for the stepping aside of one of the current administration’s brightest stars on the basis of what they themselves have described as mere allegations is unjust and joke taken too far.
“The reforms in the Tax sector are outstanding and list amongst the greatest achievements of @officialABAT and Adedeji, together with his colleagues at FIRS, have implemented those reforms in a commendable, humane and exemplary manner.
“To ask for him to be removed is tantamount to attempting to stop the great work he is doing, to provide an unnecessary distraction from his efforts and to undermine the efforts of the Federal Government to bring sanity and transparency to that sector and carry out one of its cardinal campaign promises.
“It is obvious that this sponsored advert signed by one Kabiru Yusuf is the work of the opposition who are getting increasingly nervous about the great successes of this administration.
“For the record let it be clear that no right-thinking person takes the nonsensical call seriously and every progressive minded should condemn it in its entirety and reject it.
“We urge Zaach and his team to remain focused and to carry on the great work they are doing, not minding where the distraction was coming from.It is part of sacrifice for daring to carry out reforms that would transform the FIRS and make life more meaningful for the citizens,” the statement added.
