Kebbi State Government and the State Police Command have debunked media reports that a bomb exploded at the Bagudo General Hospital early Tuesday morning.
At a News briefing in Birnin Kebbi, the Secretary to the Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, debunked the misinformation that the explosion was a bomb blast.
“On behalf of the people and the government of Kebbi State I am making this clarification that a fire outbreak engulfed the house of a Nurse located in the hospital premises which led to gas cylinder explosion.
“Security conducted an investigation and confirmed that fire outbreak and not bomb caused the blas.
“The administration of Comrade Nasir Idris reassures all residents of Kebbi of the protection of lives and property of the people.” He added.
Similarly, the Kebbi State Police Command clarified that investigations and expert assessments confirmed that the incident was caused by an inferno which overheated air-conditioning and refrigerator gas cylinders, resulting to the loud explosions experienced.
The clarification was contained in a statement in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, signed by the Police Public Relations officer, SP Bashir Usman.
”Assessments conducted by EOD-CBRN experts, alongside the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team, confirmed that no explosives or aerial activity were involved.
“There was also no loss of life or injuries recorded, as verified by the on-site expert teams.
”The Police Command urges the public and media to disregard unverified reports suggesting a bomb or helicopter involvement and to rely solely on official information.
“The situation is fully under control, and the Command remains recommitted to public safety and transparency.” The statement concluded.
