APC Drops Uzodinma, Picks Masari As 2026 Convention Chairman, Reconstitutes Central Committee
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a major step toward a successful 2026 National Convention with the reconstitution of its Central Coordination Committee, bringing together some of the party’s most experienced leaders across the country.
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, CFR, has been appointed Chairman of the committee, a move widely seen as reinforcing the party’s commitment to a well-organised and inclusive convention.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
Also named on the committee are former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, who will serve as Vice Chairman I, and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as Vice Chairman II. Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, will function as Treasurer, while former Borno State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, was appointed Secretary.
The high-powered committee comprises governors, lawmakers and senior party stakeholders drawn from across the federation, reflecting the APC’s broad national spread and internal unity ahead of the convention.
Among the governors selected are Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Babagana Zulum of Borno and Bassey Otu of Cross River States.Others include Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Monday Okpebholo (Edo), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano) and Uba Sani (Kaduna).
Also on the list are Dikko Umaru Radda (Katsina), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Mohammed Bago (Niger) and Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
The APC National Working Committee is expected to unveil additional sub-committees in the coming weeks to further strengthen preparations.
Party leaders expressed confidence that the reconstituted team would deliver a seamless, transparent and successful national convention in 2026.
