From : Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi

The delayed arrival of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu almost marred this year’s well propagated Argungu International fishing and cultural Festival in Kebbi.

President Tinubu who was billed to torch down at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport at exactly 10 a.m could not, as reports filtered in that as at 12 00 noon the President was still in Abuja attending to pressing State issues.

Fishermen having waited more than necessary, beyond the time tradition and culture permit them, became enraged, unable to hold back their patience trooped enmass (about 60 of them) into the water, commenced fishing to the dislike of the organising committee members who immediately begged the event’s Master of ceremony to stop fishermen, but to no avail.

The Emir of Arugungu, Alhaji Muhammad Samaila Mera, however, wadded in by pacifying the fishermen to go out of the river because the August visitor being expected is not yet around and the fishing festival itself was meant to honor him.
