2027: Prioritize National Interest Above Stomach Infrastructure, NEDMO Urges Nigerians

THE New Direction for Nigeria Movement, NEDMO, has called on Nigerians to place priority over national interest above stomach infrastructure that would disappear without any lasting impact on the progress and security of the country.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday at NEDMO’s National Secretariat located at the Central Business District, Abuja – FCT, by the Convener of the movement, Comrade Mark Adebayo, NEDMO encouraged Nigerians to be active politically and avoid a “sidon look” approach as the 2027 general elections are getting nearer.

“It is incumbent on Nigerians to understand that national interest is paramount over and above all other personal considerations like stomach infrastructures that are bound to disappear without any lasting impact on the progress and security of the country. Although they offer a temporary reprieve from immediate wants, but they are not in any way programmed to offer sustainable solutions to our critical challenges. With periodic empowerment programmes must come policies that stimulate industry, build human capacity, guarantee security, mass employment, and capital infrastructural development nationwide.

“While assessing the political space, we urge Nigerian electorate to ensure that votes are cast for leaders with capacity, vision, ingenuity, and character. We must avoid allowing the temporary enjoyment of stomach infrastructure derail our quest for good education, excellent healthcare delivery system, national security, peace, and unity.

“Let’s not mortgage tomorrow with today’s inaction. It’s time for Nigerians to be intentional and avoid being lured by leaders who really have nothing to offer other than the plans to loot Nigeria and set the country on the path of state failure. It is also important to avoid pretenders and rogues who are wolves in sheep’s clothing who engage in conquer by deceit. Some lack original ideas of their own, but prey on the idea of others through deceptive agenda. A leader who steals other people’s ideas will rob the country to death if mistakenly elected to power. Nigerians beware!”

The group also rolled out series of activities that would culminate in its national convention where it would endorse its preferred presidential candidate and governorship candidates in each state.

NEDMO, therefore, cautions Nigerians not to fall victim of fraudulent activities of a fake NEDMO operating without the approval of the National Coordinating Committee, NCC, of the Movement.

The statement cautioned that it is not yet affiliated to any political Party or candidate.
