Unity In Diversity, Chief Jimoh Balogun Highlights Harmony In Ijagemo Community

There is no truth to the rumours about the death of Charles Chimezie Nwachukwu, who recently died following a dispute with some hoodlums in the Ijagemo area of Lagos.Baale of Ijagemo in Lagos, High Chief Olateju Jimoh-Balogun, told newsmen that he was unaware of what caused Nwachukwu’s death, and only learned of the incident after it happened.

He explained that reports suggested a fight in the area resulted in someone’s death.

He stated that as a community leader, he was approached for mediation after the situation escalated.

“I am not aware of what happened until I was informed to intervene, but it has been reported that the man has died,” he said.

High Chief Jimoh-Balogun noted that the matter has been reported to the police for further investigation.

He clarified that he is not involved and does not understand the cause of the dispute, which led to Mr Nwachukwu’s death, emphasising that the police are in charge.

He expressed frustration that some people falsely implicated him, noting that the incident was unfortunate but occurred at a beer parlour far from his palace.

While condoling with the family of Mr Nwachukwu, High Chief Jimoh-Balogun urged those aggrieved by the incident to pursue their grievances through the appropriate authorities.

He warned against taking law enforcement into their own hands, promising that anyone caught inciting violence would be handed over to security agencies.

High Chief Jimoh-Balogun also highlighted that his community remains peaceful, with no discrimination against Igbos or other tribes, attributing the community’s peace and progress to mutual understanding and tolerance among residents.

He urged residents to continue their daily activities as security agencies are handling the investigation with the aim of arresting and prosecuting those responsible.
