Ekiti Guber: Southwest Group Intensifies Campaign For Oyebanji
The South West Indepedent Campaign Movement, [SWICAM] has launched a some public advocacy campaign for the re-election of the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 Gubernatorial poll.
Over 100 volunteers stormed Ikere and Ado-Ekiti on at the weekend where they engaged traders, civil servants, students and artisans.
The advocacy began two weeks ago with the launch of SWICAM in Ado-Ekiti attended by over 300 volunteers drawn from across the local Governments in Ekiti State.
This week the volunteers concentrated on civil servants, workers, students and teachers in Ekiti State.
On Friday, the volunteers were in Mosques armed with advocacy Information, Education and Information, [IEC] materials educating the people on why Oyebanji is the best alternative for Ekiti.
On Sunday, the volunteers visited Churches across the state with advocacy materials specifically designed for Christians.
At Ikere and Ado-Ekiti, thousands of residents came out to receive the team that came in a convoy accompanied by many motorcyle riders all in BAO regalia.
The volunteers said they were motivated by the achievements of Governor Oyebanji in the past three and a half years.
SWICAM said it has drawn a workplan that involves weekly advocacy programmes in all the 142 towns and villages in Ekiti State.
They listed the Governor’s intervention in agriculture, road construction, healthcare delivery, education and tourism as milestones.
“We have introduced a unique intervention in the campaign for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji. We want mass participation in the election. We want to see Oyebanji defeat his opponents convincingly,” the group’s Deputy National Coordinator Mrs Bola Adewunmi said.
The group said Ekiti is strategically placed to record 1.5million voters if the adequate strategy and tactics are put in place.
“The victory of Oyebanji is of strategic significanve to the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We want to see Ekiti achieve massive voters’ turnout. Voting strength translates to political power at the National level,” SWICAM stated.
