Oyo 2027: Minister Of Power, Adebayo Adelabu Resigns
After weeks of speculation, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has resigned to pursue his gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State.
Adelabu in a letter of resignation addressed to President Bola Tinubu, a copy which was made available to our correspondent thanked Mr. President for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet.
According to him, ” My decision to step down is informed by my intention to focus fully on my gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State. “
Continuing, he said; ” This aspiration, which dates back to 2016 during my service as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, ultimately led to my voluntary resignation from the Central Bank in 2018 in order to pursue the same goal,” he added.
Adelabu said his resignation is in line with Electoral Act 2026 as amended which precludes political office holders to resign before nominations and primaries.
Recall that speculation was rife a fortnight ago that Adelabu has resigned to pursue his gubernatorial ambition only for him to disown the letter.
