CAIDOV Condemns Summary Execution Of Ogidi Mena, Calls For Investigation

The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) strongly condemns the cold-blooded murder of a young man, named Ogidi Mena, by operatives of the Efurun Area Command of Nigeria Police Force, Uvwie, on 28th April, 2026 in Effurun, Delta State.

CAIDOV in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Gbenga Soloki, sais video evidence shows the deceased seated on the ground, visibly subdued, in front of a marked Police vehicle.

He was unarmed, posed no threat, and was subsequently killed in what amounts to extrajudicial execution.

According to the statement “this is murder. It violates Section 33 of the 1999 Constitution and all rules of engagement.”

CAIDOV, therefore demands the following:

1. Immediate arrest and dismissal of all officers in that Police vehicle and at the scene.

2. Homicide charges against the trigger-happy officer(s). No “orderly room trial”.

3. Public investigation by the NHRC and Police Service Commission within 7 days.

4. Compensation and apology to the family of Ogidi Mena by the Nigeria Police Force.

The group urged the Nigeria Police must stop extra judicial killing of young Nigerians.
