Peter Obi, Udenwa, Ugochukwu, Others Extorting NDC Aspirants, Kenneth Okonkwo Alleges
Kenneth Okonkwo, a leader of African Democratic Congress, ADC, has accused Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi and the south east caucus of the party of extortion.
Recall that the NDC national leader and former governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson said aspirants would not pay for nominations until they have become candidates.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily Program on Monday, Okonkwo said the renegades who left the ADC has become the head of criminality in the NDC.
According to him, the sum of ten million naira and twenty million naira respectively were collected from the aspirants from the south east caucus leaders.
He said; ” I will prove it with facts. A man call me from Nnewi that Peter Obi called him that those aspiring for house of Representatives should pay ten million naira while their Senate counterparts pay twenty million.
” The man said he was angry because the way it was presented to them individually as if they have been chosen.”
Continuing, he said; ” after many of us have paid they said we should go to the field for the primaries while Peter Obi retreated to a hotel to write the names of those he wanted. Unlike, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, who ask his people to adopt consensus which worked very well without any acrimony and they were organised. “
Okonkwo alluding to the comment made by Aisha Yesufu, a senatorial aspirant of the NDC in the FCT that she was not even given any ground let alone level ground, the ADC chieftain said he didn’t collect a dime from aspirants from Enugu state where he’s the leader.
” That is why the NDC has released a statement that it’s only the south east caucus of the party that was involved in such problems. Onyeama Ugochukwu, Achike Udenwa, Peter Obi and other leaders of south east caucus were busy extorting the south east aspirants,” he added.
