Why I Left Harvesters Church- Morayo Afolabi-Brown
Morayo Afolabi- Brown, the media personality, has revealed that a failed relationship was the reason she left Harvesters International Christian Centre.
The TV host, in an interview with Bolaji Idowu, the church’s lead pastor, said she once served as the head usher at the church and was actively involved in ministry before the relationship ended.
According to Brown, she was dating a fellow minister at the church, and both were deeply committed to serving in various capacities.
She said, however, after the breakup, she found it difficult to continue in the same environment.
The broadcaster disclosed that Bolaji personally intervened, hoping to mediate and encourage both parties to remain but the logistics of coexistence proved too awkward.
“You people don’t know that my very first church in Nigeria was Harvesters International and I was the head usher in that church. And I left because of man,” she said.
“So, what happened was that I was dating a minister in HICC. Both of us were really close and then he broke up with me. And then Pastor Bolaji was trying to get us to stay.
“How can two ministers be in ministers’ meeting and we have broken up? I said, ‘Ko le shele’.“Pastor Bolaji begged me, that don’t go and I left. That was the reason why I left.”
Afolabi-Brown is the only daughter of Alao Aka-Bashorun, the late Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) president.
She was the deputy director of programmes at TVC News and host of the breakfast show Your View.
She is married to Femi Afolabi-Brown, a lawyer, and blessed with four children.
