Ondo Government Prioritises Grassroots Information Dissemination, Public Engagement-Ajanaku
The Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that government policies, programmes and development initiatives reach every part of the state, including remote and rural communities, through effective information dissemination and public engagement strategies.
Speaking during an appearance on AM TODAY on OSRC TV, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, said the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa recognizes the critical role of information in governance and has continued to deploy various communication channels to keep residents adequately informed about government activities and opportunities.
According to Ajanaku, the government is strengthening collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, religious institutions and local associations to ensure that accurate information reaches grassroots communities.
He noted that these stakeholders remain trusted voices within their communities and play an important role in communicating government policies while also providing valuable feedback to authorities.
The commissioner explained that the state government has established several platforms for public engagement and feedback, enabling citizens to contribute to policy discussions and communicate their concerns directly to government.
He stressed that such engagements help government remain responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people while promoting inclusive governance.
On security communication, Ajanaku cited the recent successful rescue of the abducted boy in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area, as an example of effective collaboration between government and security agencies.
He said information released to the public during security operations is carefully managed to avoid compromising ongoing investigations while ensuring residents remain informed and reassured.
Addressing the challenge of fake news and misinformation, the commissioner urged residents to rely on verified government communication channels and credible media organizations for information.
He warned against the deliberate spread of false information capable of causing public panic, emphasizing that offenders could face legal consequences in accordance with existing laws.
Ajanaku also highlighted the government’s strong partnership with both state-owned and private media organizations in promoting government programmes and policies.
He called on residents to continue supporting the Aiyedatiwa administration, assuring them that the government remains focused on delivering sustainable development, improving citizens’ welfare and building a safer, more prosperous Ondo State.
