Insecurity: Army Redeploys 19 Generals
The Nigerian Army has announced a major restructuring of its senior leadership, redeploying General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Theatre Commanders, and several top generals to critical frontline and administrative formations.
The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, made this disclosure in an official statement released in Abuja.
She noted that the changes, approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, are strategically intended to consolidate military capacity against evolving national security threats.
Key Leadership Changes
The redeployment affects several key divisions and commands to enhance operational efficiency: GOCs and Operational Commands: Major Gen. W.M. Dangana (3 Div), Major Gen. E.I. Okoro (6 Div), Major Gen. A.S.K. Wase (1 Div), and Major Gen. Chinedu Nnebeife (2 Div) take over strategic commands.
Specialized Units & Staff: Major Gen. J.R. Lar commands the AHQ Garrison, while Maj. Gen. S.A. Emmanuel leads the Army Space Command. Major Gen. A.A. Idris is the new Chief of Military Intelligence and Brig. Gen. O.M. Oyekola is the acting Military Secretary.
Operational Mandate
The COAS directed the officers to adopt proactive strategies to dismantle criminal networks immediately.
