2026 FIFA WORLD CUP:Highs, Lows, As Tournament Reaches Climax

It is a day to the end of the biggest football championship in the world. Football fans, stakeholders and aficionados have been kept busy for the past 34 days. The excitements across the three hosts countries; Canada, Mexico and USA, have been palpable and despite their ousters, football history have been made.
The championship recorded many highs, including debutants Cabo Verde, and Curaçao, who turned heads with great performances.
It also threw up and tear up the books of many pundits, even as it recorded the highest number of oldies, including Cristiano Ronaldo Vozinha, Messi and Kane.
The lows, had Donald Trump storming the party before and during championship for several wrong reasons, including visas denial to fans of some participating teams and reportedly influencing on-the field decisions in favour of the host nation.
The biggest excitements comes with tomorrow’s final match between defending champions Argentina and Spain, the 2010 winners.
Beyond the contrasting styles of plays between both countries, the match is also throwing up something of a father and son, as welI as, a student and teacher match-ups.
Lamine Yamal was like a son to Lionel Messi who reportedly bathed him while the former Barcelona star was in Spain.
Same way, 48 years old Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni learned the coaching ropes during his time in Spain under 65 years old Spaniard De la Fuente.
Through 102 matches played so far in the 2026 World Cup, a total of 297 goals have been scored.
As the tournament approaches its climax with the final matches left to play, the highly anticipated grand finale between Argentina and Spain is set for July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
