Abba Kaka Rolls Out Bigger Plans For Basketball Development In Northeast Nigeria

The Chairman of Borno State Basketball Association and North East representative on the NBBF Board, Alhaji Abba Kaka, has reiterated his plans to continue the development of the game in the North East zone.
Speaking with Sports Chronicle Magazine, the successful businessman and passionate lover of the game, disclosed some plans to help improve the fortunes of the game in Nigeria, particularly, in the North East of Nigeria, beginning with the 3rd edition of the annual Saleh Basketball Classics.
He affirmed that invitations have been sent out to various states and basketball clubs for participation in the tournament, which is scheduled to take place 6th August to 11th August, 2026, at the El-Kanemi Warriors Sports Centre Basketball Court.
According to the information on the invite, during the competition, there would be technical sessions on Referees and technical officials training and rules update, with dress code of black shorts and white t-shirts.
The dress code for the coaches is smart sport wears, while the table officials are expected to be dressed in black shorts and white t-shirts.
The technical sessions shall run from day 1 to 3. While the Classics take place thereafter.
The competition which is sponsored by Abba Kaka, in conjunction with Borno State Sports Council, would also provide accommodation and subsidy for the participants.
There shall also be prizes for top three teams, as well as, individual prizes for the Most Valuable Player, Most Promising Team, Best Coach and Technical Crew.
