Osun Election: We Didn’t Make A Wrong Choice – Bishops, Christian Group Speak
The World Bishops Council (WBC) in Africa has sent a congratulatory message to the reelected Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke over his victory at the Saturday, August 15th, 2026 election in the state.
Besides, the Council also praised the resoluteness of the voters as they ignored all the pre-election threats and the huge monetary inducements by voting for candidates of their choice.

In a statement signed on Wednesday, August 19 by the Africa Nuncio of WBC, Bishop Seun Adeoye and the WBC leader in the state, Bishop Mike Adekeye Adebomi, the Council noted that members endorsed Governor Adeleke prior to the election because they know “he was God’s choice” for Osun State at this time.
“We took this position to support the Governor after careful consideration and prayers along with other global WBC affiliate bodies including the World Federation of Churches (WFC) and the World Clergy Congress (WCC).
“After this victory, we urge the Governor not to victimize anyone, or think of revenge against those who offended him. ‘Avenge is mine’, says the Lord. Rather, he should see his victory as God’s ordained and focus his attention on the peoples’ welfare and more projects that will lift the state up”, the statement added.
In a similar vein, the Religious Engagement Committee (Christianity) set up in support of Governor Adeleke’s reelection has congratulated the Osun State top echelon for his victory at the polls.
This was contained n a statement signed by the Committee’s Vice-Chairman, Pastor Wale Akinyemi, on behalf of the members which cut across all the 30 local governments and all the five blocks of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and its women and the youth arms.
The Committee assured the reelected Governor of members full support and prayers, explaining that it will continue to mobilise support for him throughout his remaining time he will spend in office.
“We will always be there in prayers and supplications. We will ensure that Mr. Governor succeed in his herculean tasks. We are sure that the next four years shall bring more successes and more developmental projects”, the statement declared.
