“He Is Suleiman Ogunleye, Not Solomon Olamilekan!” — APC Chieftain Drops Identity Bombshell On Live Television, Claims Guber Candidate Is Not From Ogun State
ABEOKUTA — In a dramatic twist that has sent shockwaves through the political landscape of Ogun State, prominent journalist and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Wale Adedayo, has publicly accused the party’s 2027 consensus governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi), of operating under a false identity.

Appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s flagship political program, Politics Today, Adedayo alleged that the federal lawmaker’s real name is Suleiman Ogunleye, asserting that he is not an indigene of Ogun State.
The Live TV Bombshell
The former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area did not hold back as he took aim at the heart of the APC’s transition plan for the 2027 gubernatorial race.
“The APC governorship candidate is not from Ogun State,” Adedayo stated emphatically during the broadcast. “His real identity is Suleiman Ogunleye, and in some older records, Simon. He has no ancestral roots here, and the name Solomon Olamilekan Adeola is a carefully constructed identity.”
Adedayo argued that the Senator’s political roots belong entirely to Lagos State, where he built his career before executing a controversial political migration to Ogun West. He warned that fielding a candidate with an allegedly fabricated lineage would backfire fatally on the ruling party.
“APC is Dead in Ogun State”
The identity allegation was paired with a grim political forecast for the ruling party. Adedayo declared that internal fractures and the imposition of a non-indigene have effectively sealed the party’s fate ahead of the next election cycle.
“As far as the 2027 elections are concerned, the APC is completely gone in Ogun State,” Adedayo said. He confidently predicted a clean sweep for the opposition, stating that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Oladipupo “Ladi” Adebutu, would comfortably defeat the APC across all 20 Local Government Areas of the state.
A Growing Political Firestorm
The explosive interview has re-ignited the volatile “Tekobo” (Lagos returnee) debate that has historically shadowed Senator Adeola’s political ambitions in Ogun State. While Adeola’s media team and high-ranking APC loyalists have consistently dismissed these claims as malicious propaganda fabricated by desperate politicians, Adedayo’s televised outburst marks the most direct personal attack on the candidate’s heritage to date.
As of the time of filing this report, Senator Adeola has not issued a formal rebuttal to Adedayo’s live television assertions, as his spokesman, Kayode Odunaro did not respond to our correspondent’s message.
