ABUJA, NIGERIA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a steady, forthright, and committed ally.

In a statement issued by the State House, President Tinubu praised Alake’s decades of public service, highlighting his transition from a fearless journalist during Nigeria’s military era to a strategic political leader.

“During Nigeria’s darkest hours under military rule, he was a journalist of conscience who fought on the front lines against dictatorship,” Tinubu said.

He also lauded Alake’s eight-year tenure as the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State, noting that he redefined government communication.

Turning to Alake’s current federal role, the President expressed admiration for his leadership in the mining sector and his continental impact as the Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group (AMSG).

President Tinubu concluded his tribute with prayers for Alake’s continued good health and longevity as he entered the “Club of Septuagenarians.”
