Lagos APC Targets 5 Million Votes, Launches ‘Operation Deliver Your Polling Unit’ To Track Leader Performance

LAGOS — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has set a formidable target to capture five million votes out of a projected seven million total votes in the upcoming elections, launching a strict accountability initiative to monitor the grassroots performance of its public officeholders and party leaders.

The Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Oyefolu Ojelabi, announced the mandate on Monday, 19th October, 2026, during his opening address at a high-level strategic retreat for party leaders and senior members of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Council at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island.

With exactly 85 days left until the polls, Ojelabi warned that the party will no longer tolerate “broad, general terms” when assessing political performance. Instead, the party is institutionalising a strict culture of measurable electoral responsibility through its new directive: “Operation Deliver Your Polling Unit.”

End to “Secretariat Politics”

In a direct warning to party elites, Ojelabi condemned the practice of politicians lobbying for recognition at party headquarters while neglecting their local constituencies.

“Political relevance cannot be manufactured from the corridors of party offices,” Ojelabi declared. “The era of relying solely on proximity to influential personalities while neglecting grassroots responsibilities must give way to a more purposeful and performance-driven political culture. Go back to your wards, identify with your people, and strengthen your polling units.”

To enforce this, local government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmen have been ordered to compile the polling unit details of all political stakeholders.

The tracking system will actively evaluate the electoral output of officials across three tiers of government:

At the Federal Level: National Assembly members, federal ministers, heads of departments/agencies, and presidential appointees.

At the State Level: Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, cabinet members, and aides to the Governor.

At the Local Level: Councillors, supervisors, and local government chairmen appointees.

One Team, One Strategy

The Chairman noted that the 5-million-vote target is entirely attainable given the APC’s deep-rooted structures across Lagos, but stressed that success depends on unity and disciplined communication.

He tasked the campaign council with aggressively mobilizing the grassroots by showcasing the APC’s governance track record in Lagos State alongside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national “Renewed Hope” agenda.

“No campaign can succeed sustainably when its component parts operate at cross-purposes,” Ojelabi said, urging participants to put sentiments aside and focus entirely on collective victory at the ballot.
