Aiyedatiwa To Commission Projects As Omoluorogbo Grammar School Marks 50th Anniversary
AKURE, NIGERIA — Preparations have reached an advanced stage for the golden jubilee celebration of Omoluorogbo Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State, with Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa expected to headline the landmark event.
The three-day celebration, running under the theme “Celebrating Our Legacy, Shaping the Future,” will culminate on Saturday, October 31, 2026. During the grand finale, Governor Aiyedatiwa will officially commission a newly completed, ultra-modern administrative block and perform the groundbreaking ceremony for two new four-classroom blocks.
The infrastructure drive is spearheaded by the institution’s global alumni network as part of a legacy initiative to deliver four new classroom blocks, aimed at transforming the school’s learning environment.
Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Chairman of the OGSA 50th Anniversary Planning and Implementation Committee, disclosed that former students from across the globe—including chapters in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, and Japan—are mobilizing to return to Akure for the historic reunion.
The anniversary events kick off on Thursday, October 29, with an interdenominational thanksgiving service, mentorship sessions, and networking activities, followed by an inter-house sports competition on Friday, October 30.
Saturday’s grand finale at 10:00 a.m. will feature the project launches alongside a keynote address by Dr. Mogaji Stephen Alaba of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, focused on navigating the institution’s future challenges and solutions.
The planning committee has called on corporate bodies, government agencies, and philanthropists to partner with the alumni in anchoring the school’s next five decades of educational growth.
