Breaking:Cracks In CAN As Lagos Chapter Pulls Out Of May 22 Nationwide Protests … Says It’s Time For Intense Prayer Not Protest In Lagos State

There appears to be crack in the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, as Lagos state chapter has pulled out of the nationwide protests slated for May 22.

Instead the Lagos state chapter urged all Christians in the state to disregard the instruction from the National body to protest the death of Deborah Samuel, a 200 level student of Shagari College of Education, Sokoto who was stoned to death and set ablaze on allegation of blasphemy last week.

CAN in a statement issued on Tuesday by the state secretary, Very Rev. Fr. Ayo Mathew Ogunyase, titled Important Notice, said Christians should go on their KNEES and pray for peace to reign in the country.

The statement reads in part; “Greetings dearest people of the Lord. 

“The Chairman of CAN Lagos State Bishop STV Adegbite, PhD, has directed that this Sunday 22nd May slated for Protest by All Christians in our Country should rather be observed as a Day Of Prayer in all our Churches for Peace. 

“He appeals that All Christians and Churches in Lagos State should during their services this Sunday assume the Position of Prayers on our KNEES for peace and restoration in the country and NOT Protest as directed in the National Circular please. It is Time for Intense Prayer Not Protest in Lagos State. “ 

IMPORTANT NOTICE 

Greetings dearest people of the Lord. The Chairman of CAN Lagos State Bishop STV Adegbite PhD has directed that this Sunday 22nd May slated for Protest by All Christians in our Country should rather be observed as a Day Of Prayer in all our Churches for Peace.
