Ogun Approves ₦50k Palliative, Mattresses For 3,050 NYSC Corps Members
SAGAMU, NIGERIA — The Ogun State Government has approved a ₦50,000 welfare palliative for each of the 3,050 corps members currently deployed to the state.
The financial package, greenlit by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, targets members of the 2026 Batch C, Stream I who are undergoing their mandatory orientation exercise at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp in Sagamu.
Disbursement of the ₦50,000 cash relief commenced on Monday.
According to state officials, the initiative is designed to cushion the impact of prevailing economic challenges and help the youth meet personal needs as they transition into their service year.
In tandem with the ₦152.5 million financial intervention, the government has donated 500 mattresses to the Sagamu orientation camp.
The infrastructure boost comes in response to a recent surge in the number of corps members deployed to Ogun State, which has stretched existing camp facilities.
The dual intervention was officially announced in a statement signed by Wasiu Isiaka, the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development.
“The state government considers their welfare an important aspect of creating a supportive environment,” the statement noted, emphasizing the vital roles corps members play in driving local education, healthcare, and community development.
The Abiodun administration reiterated its intention to continue upgrading the Sagamu facility to sustain comfortable living standards for future cohorts.
