Youth Coalition Kicks Against Calls For EFCC Chairman Removal
From Ayodele Ajoge, Birnin-Kebbi
A coalition of youth under the auspices of Nigerian Youth Alliance Against Corruption and Money Laundering (NYAACML), has vehemently condemned the protest march and calls for the removal of the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.
The youth coalition in a press conference addressed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji NasiruTurakin Masama in Birnin-Kebbi, Tuesday, described the call for removal of Mr. Bawa as not only unnecessary, but absolutely uncalled for at this period when corruption is high among the top echelon in the Nigeria society.
The National Coordinator, flanked by the Secretary, Comrade Usman Mohammed Anache, Zonal Coordinator, Shehu Isah S/Kudu and the Women Coordinator for Kebbi State, Hajia Unun Umaru described the EFCC Chairman as a young man whose performance in office since his assumption of office has been very impressive considering the number of seizures and arrest he has made for the Nigeria State.
Alhaji Masama pointed out that under the leadership of the EFCC Chairman, he has recovered more than N500 billion, $386 million, more than £1 million more than €160,000 among other money recovered and handed them to the Federal Government.
He pointed out that it is however disturbing to find out that a young man of this caliber can be brought to public ridicule because he is performing his duties as expected, and as such looters of Nigeria Treasury must fight him back by employing their cronies in the CSOs to to bring his hard work to disrepute.
“We therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ignore the calls by these corrupt elements on the streets, we also call on the Chairman of the EFCC and his Staff to remain focused and not be distracted by these unpatriotic elements calling for the stoppage of anti-coruption war crusade in Nigeria, as they are not representing any meaningful society, organization or community in Nigeria”. He said.
