From Ayodele Ajoge , Birnin-Kebbi
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has dismissed call by an APC top notcher in the State, Alhaji Abubakar Gari-Malam on INEC to declare the results of the inconclusive Kebbi State Gubernatorial elections and call for his immediate arrest and Prosecution.
In a press statement made available to news men in Birnin-Kebbi, the State Capital signed by the Chairman, Publicity Committee of the party in the State, Alhaji Sanni Dododo, described the call as premature, baseless and contemptuous to the electoral process.
Dododo expressed that the recent newspaper interview credited to Alhaji Abubakar Gari-Malam, he Shettima Gwandu calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare APC Gubernatorial Candidate as duly elected Governor if the State is not only undemocratic but an attempt to undermine constitutional powers of INEC and a call for anarchy in the state.
“It is most unfortunate for a Nigerian citizen of Gari-malam status to descend so low to undermining constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and its Sovereignty to display ignorance of the law. Therefore security agencies should do the needful by arresting and prosecuting him for treasonable statement capable of disrupting law and order.” The Statement added.
The Statement added further that, Kebbi State PDP is appealing to its members and the general public to remain calm and be law abiding while awaiting formal announcement from the Independent National Electoral Commission who is constitutionally saddle with the responsibility of coordinating all election matters in the Country.
