NDE To Train Kebbi’s Women In Shoes, Bags Making

 The National Director of Employment (NDE) has commenced a week long entrepreneurship training in shoes and baga making to twenty selected women in Kebbi State.

The week long training which kicked off in Birnin-Kebbi on Monday attracted twenty women selected from the 21 Local Government Areas the State.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, the Director General of the NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, who spoke through the State Coordinator of the scheme, Mr. Ambianto Amos Francis said the training is organised under the Small Scale Empowerment (SSE) department.

Malam Fikpo told the participants to count themselves lucky to be part of the few women choosing to undergo the training which will invariably change their lives if they give seriousness to the training and pay maximum attention as the training lasted.

He stated that the training is simultaneously going on in all the 36 State of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in which just twenty women were selected to take part and which each of them, participants will be given a loan of N20,000 each to start their Shoes and bag making business.

“This a great privilege for twenty of you to participate, it is a training for empowerment, a training to make you self employed, a training to enhance your economic power, by making shoes and bags to boost your economic potentiality.

“This money given is not for dash, it is a loan which you will pay back as your business grows, use the proceeds from this business to help yourself, your husband and your Children”.

In her speech, the Director of Small Scale Employment (SSE), Chikodi Ike, represented by Mr. Joshua Bukar, expressed that ‘if you train a woman you have trained a Nation, noting that this training is unique training to enhance skills.

She pointed out that though, the N20,000 loan given was small, but with seriousness on their part a lot can be achieved and they would stand on their own and become an employer of labour in their own small way.
