Fake News: Soyinka Announces $1000 Reward

Nobel Laurete, Prof Wole Soyinka, has announced a $1000 reward to anyone who can fish out the author of fake news attributed to him.

He spoke on the Arise News programme, The Morning Show, monitored in Lagos on Wednesday.

Soyinka said he found it nauseating that on several occasions, people have attributed praise singing articles to his name.

He said, ” I have checked my account, and I’m able to afford $1000 for anyone who can detect the author of fake news attributed to me. I think it’s sickening. Those who want to praise sing should be bold enough to use their father’s name and not in my name.”

The Nobel Laurete also said there’s need to tame the ugly menace of fake news in Nigeria.

On his assessment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s performance, he said, “There’s no point in dissipating intellectual energy on assessing Buhari because he’s leaving on a sour note through his naira redesign programme.

“Again, his flagrant disobedience to the Supreme Court order is not too good.”
