Maigogo Congratulates Tinubu, Urges Nigerians To Be Patient With Him
Dr. A.A Maiagogo who was the Director of Community Support of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council and Co-Convener of the Pre-Inauguration Hangouts at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his successful assumption of office as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a statement personally signed by Dr Maiagogo this Wednesday in Abuja, the man popularly called Sarikin Nyaki, said “It is a great joy that we have had a peaceful and successful transition again from one administration to another from former President Muhammadu Buhari to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29th.
” I congratulate the President and all of us Nigerians for having this historic occasion without any encumbrances whatsoever and it is a sign that our democracy is maturing exponentially.
“The President came into office by the overwhelming mandate given to him by Nigerians expressed through a democratic process of the ballot.
“I am confident that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will execute his promises and deliver 100% on his manifesto that he campaigned upon. He is a productive and proactive leader whose only targets are the overall development of Nigeria and the socioeconomic wellbeing of Nigerians across board.
“President Bola Tinubu will take Nigeria to a higher level of socioeconomic prowess and progress. What we all Nigerians need to do is to be patient with him as he settles down in office to drive the country towards total recovery in every sector of governance.
” I know that the expectations are high and urgent. But let’s trust the President to do the needful and deliver the goods. The challenges are no doubt huge, but we have handed the country over to a man who is a capable resolver of challenges no matter how daunting.”
On the petroleum subsidy removal and the current scarcity of the premium motor spirit, petrol, Dr Maiagogo stated that “Every well-meaning and knowledgeable Nigerian knows that the subsidy was unsustainable because it wasn’t actually benefitting the mass of Nigerians who were supposed to enjoy the subsidy in the first instance. About 20% of Nigerians at the lowest rung of the economic ladder, the real targets of the subsidy, consumed less than 1% of the petroleum products.
“The subsidy regime had become the cash cow for a few who had turned it into a thriving corruption industry which must not be allowed to continue.
“Meanwhile, the scarcity we are currently witnessing is a temporary and artificial initial reaction to the subsidy removal being orchestrated by the enemies of Nigeria who benefitted immensely from the corruption that surrounded the subsidy regime.
“The system will soon adjust the initial hardships and everything will run seamlessly. Let’s just be a little patient and not allow economic saboteurs mislead the people into believing what is not true.
“The President was very clear during the campaigns that the subsidy regime was unsustainable and that he would end it once elected. So, this is not some kind of ambush policy. It is keeping a promise made and Nigeria and Nigerians would be the better for it in due course ” the statement ended.
