Notorious Land Grabbing: Lagos Communities, Firm Cry To CP Over Persistent Invasion, Threat To Life
The people of Eyin Osa in both lbeju-Lekki and Epe Local Government Areas of Lagos State have cried to the state Commissioner of Police and Inspector General of Police (IGP) to come to their rescue over the constant invasion and threat to life by land grabbers name Saidi Ibile and Muraino Banjoko Aka Treeco.
The communities and one Mr. Murphy Adebare, the managing director of Topaz Garden Limited raised the alarm in a petition written by their lawyer, Aare Oladotun Hassan to Owohunwa , dated June 2, 2023, seeking urgent protection of the police.
The petitioners appealed to the Lagos police boss to come to their rescue in the hands of the land grabbers and thugs who had turned the peaceful communities into a war zone with their nefarious activities.
The communities and the firm also alleged that the culprits who were bent on taking over what did not belong to them in the areas with violence, were working hand in hand with some top police officers in Abuja, it was alleged that one Funmi a police public relation officer at C.I.D Abuja was used to perpetrate crimes, arrest, detain, harass and intimidate residents of the communities unlawfully.
The petitioners stated that in the past, they had logged a series of complaints against perpetrators and their leaders in different Police Divisions but no respite.
The petition titled, ‘Request for Commissioner of Police urgent intervention’, read in part;” Our request is that we appeal your good office to please direct the Task Force Monitoring to investigate, harmonize and conclude all investigation, and to call for the arrest of any thugs or criminals found culpable in the cause of your Investigation, and as well ensure the possible conclusion of police action on the criminal aspect of the case so that the erring party would be charged to court in due time soon.“
This will bring to an end the incessant attacks in the communities, unlawful arrest, unlawful detention of our clients and members of the communities by the land grabbers and dreaded thugs and also enable the parties to face investigation accordingly.
It was equally learnt that some unsuspecting clients have purchased part of the land grabbed.
