Kebbi Governor’s Wife, Zainab Supports War Against Drugs Trafficking, Abuse

Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajia Zainab Nasare Idris , has declared her support for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the State over its ongoing against abuse and trafficking of illicit drugs.

Hajia Zainab Nasare Idris made the declaration when  she received in audience, a delegation of the team of NDLEA Officials led by the State Commander, Suleiman Usman at the government house in Birnin Kebbi.

In a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor’s wife, Hajia Khadijat Saidu quoted her Excellency as saying, “I will not stand bye as a mother  of the state and see our children consumed by this menace, I am therefore seeking a formidable partnership that will secure the state  against the menace of drug abuse.”

While informing  about her decision to adopt drug abuse as a flagship project to address the alarming problem of drug abuse in  communities, she  also assured her office support under the leadership of the present administration of her  husband Governor Nasiru Idris to the state commands of NDLEA with logistics, set up rehabilitation centres and expansion,  provide jobs and skills for the  women,  youths, and  make massive advocacy campaigns across the state.

Speaking earlier, the State commander of  NDLEA Sulaiman Usman urged parents and guardian to imbibe the culture of early drugs addiction, detection, by consulting them when they noticed strange  attitude from their children and wards.

Sulaiman said the aim of there visit was  to  congratulates  the first family of the state on a successful inauguration into office, and to also inform  the wife of the  governor on the needs to prioritise and  adopt drug abuse as a  project to address the alarming problem of drug abuse in the State. 

The NDLEA boss equally  informed her that the Agency has  a National Drug Control  Master Plan  in which Kebbi state  have key into the plan by setting up a drug control committee which comprises members from the ministry of women affairs, Health, among others to be headed by the wife of the governor who will serve as the chairman of the committee.

While urging the governor’s wife to work with her husbands to make the drug problem a major priority on their agenda.

He also announced her appointment as the new Ambassador on the fight against Drug Abuse.

Also honorable Bashir Aliyu Buhari who spoke on behalf of Kebbi State youths also express his dissatisfaction over the increase rate of drug abuse in the state, and how the menace has diminished the worth and potential of some responsible individuals particularly the youths which has become a hindrance for their ability to contribute positively to the society.

He, therefore, appeal to  government at all levels in the State on  the urgent need to  prioritise the wellbeing of  the younger generation.
