No fewer than thirty people held in captivity by bandits in Danko Wasagu area of Kebbi State have been rescued.

Those rescued are from Kotangora in Niger State, Danmari, Kaba and Kajiji in Zamfara State and Bena in Kebbi State.

The Chairman, Danko/Wasagu Local Government, Alhaji Useni Aliyu Bena disclosed this to journalists at the weekend.

He said “We appreciate the efforts of the Brigade Commander in-charge of Kebbi, Zamfara and Sokoto States for the resilience of his men which led to the rescue of 30 people in two days”.

While commending the efforts of the security agents deployed to rescue the victims he said 24 of the abducted people were rescued on Friday while the remaining six were freed from their abductors on Saturday.

He said he was particularly happy that the payment of the outstanding allowance of the security agencies in the state by the present administration had boosted the morale of the personnel attached to troubled zones, where Kebbi is sharing borders with Zamfara and Niger State.

He also commended the state government for working hand-in-hand with security agents and giving them support to ensure that the bandits were flushed out and those held in captivity were rescued.

He said “As I am talking to you now, we are trying to arrange for six people to be transported back to Kotangora through Bena”.

He added that arrangement had also been made for their medical examination to ensure they are in good health.
