The International Conference Centre, Abuja, venue of the investiture stood still as dignitaries from all walks of life; from Traditional institutions to academia, military and paramilitary as well as society big wigs were in attendance to celebrate with Oba Makama whose views on national issues have become a reference point.
His contributions to Nigeria having a thoroughly professionalised military, especially the army, was acknowledged recently by the military institute when Oba Makama was inducted as a honourary member of the Nigerian Defence Academy, course 29, which has produced a former chief of army staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai rtd among many other distinguished officers.
From Olowu of Abeokuta, Oba Prof Matemilola to Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi to Onigege of Gege , Oba Kazeem Adio and host of others, it was a night of music and camaraderie as guests shower encomium on Oba Makama.
Also, from Lagos, Oniba of Iba was there to felicitate with one of his own.
Oba Makama, who commended the management team of Our Nigeria News Magazine for the award, said it would spur him to do more for the nation and humanity.
The multi lingua monarch who speaks French, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba fluently, however, advised the Magazine to maintain its high standards and continued in the noble path no matter whose ox is gored.
Also in attendance was Lt Gen TY Buratai, a soldier’s soldier.
Commenting on the award bestowed on his friend, he said Oba Makama has distinguished himself as a traditional ruler who understands Nigerian diversity.
Also in at the ceremony were Hon Lukman Mudashiru, popularly known as L&K, member, federal House of Representatives, representing Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa federal constituency and Hon Elisha Oderinwale, member Osun State House of Assembly.
The DG DSS was well represented. The Commandant NISS Mr Adeleke fsi, and several groups and associations of which Kabiesi Makama was patron were also present.
