Kebbi Govt Inaugurates Seven-Man C’ttee On Reproductive Health

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris has early in the week inaugurated a seven man committed to oversees activities of the Reproductive Health and Pandemic Resilience Project (RHPR) in collaboration with Federal government and Marie Stopies International (MSI) in the State.

In his speech at the inauguration, the Country Director of MSI, Emmanuel Ajah, stated that Reproductive Health Pandemic Resilience Project is a flagship project of KFW Development Bank designed to the reduction of material death from complications of unplanned pregnancies.

Mr. Ajah noted that it will expand the availability, access, acceptability and quality of integrated reproductive health services across five implementation States and the National, as the services will include family planning, verbal cancer, menstrual health and sexual and gender based violence.

He noted further that MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices will be the Project Executive Agency responsible for the full implementation of the project with the Federal Ministry of Health providing leadership and supervisory oversight on the on the project governance and implementation at the National level, while the Kebbi State government will provide leadership and supervisor oversight at the State level.

Menstrual hygiene management according to him, is a critical aspect of adolescent health and the project will work with Schools and communication to provide menstrual health education and products to adolescent girls.

In his speech at the inauguration, the State Governor, represented by his Deputy, Senator Abubakar Tafida, stated that reproductive health project in the State started as far back as 2009.

He said the State government look forward to more MSI cooperation with Kebbi State Government in the area of quality health projects for the people of the State.

The Governor also appeal for more provision of vaccine for cervical cancer by MSI and more provision of health services free of charge.
