A Tribute To Late Dr Paul Akintelure, By Femi Agagu

It is with heavy heart that I received the sad news of the demise of Dr. Paul Akintelure. This is, undoubtedly, one loss that is very difficult to bear, but who are we to question God? He gives and He takes away, blessed be His name. Notwithstanding, this is a very difficult time for everyone who is related to or had associated with Paul when he was with us. It is one loss that is certainly irreplaceable and unforgettable. We are however consoled by the fact that he left behind an indelible legacy of hardwork, philanthropy and unblemished leadership attributes. The greatest tribute we can, therefore, accord him as he has gone to his Creator is to celebrate his exemplary life, character and leadership virtues.

Paul was without any doubt a great personality. Brilliant, attentive, discerning and full of knowledge. He was a man who cared so much about his family. He once shared with me pictures of the graduation ceremonies of his children at the prestigious University of Cambridge. He also cared so much about his friends and associates. He was a great inspiration to all. Though very active in politics, his own brand of politics is without bitterness.

It’s often popularly said that some are born great, some acquired greatness and others have greatness trust upon them. Paul was born great and also went ahead to achieve more greatness.

The Bible tells us that the memory of the just is blessed and that the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. Paul may be gone but his memory will always be with us. His kindness, love and sacrifices cannot be easily forgotten. His loving memory will forever remain a monument in our hearts.

Also, as believers, the comfort we have is that he has gone to rest in the Lord’s bosom, and someday we will meet again where we shall part no more. “O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? But thanks be to God, who has given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”.

May God Almighty continue to comfort and uphold those he left behind, be a Husband to his beloved wife and a Father to all his wonderful children.

Adieu Paul and continue to rest in the bosom of your Maker.
