Just In: Supreme Court Grants Full Autonomy To LGs …Abolishes State/LG Joint Account

The Supreme Court has ruled that the allocation of the 774 local governments in Nigeria should be paid directly to them.

Justice Emmanuel Agim reading the lead judgment on Thursday said it’s unconstitutional for the state governors to hold on to funds belonging to the local governments.

He, however, held that local government should manage the funds accrued to them without any interference.

The Judge ordered immediate compliance with the judgment .
