Borno Residents Defy Downpour To Welcome Gov Zulum Back To Base

Thousands of residents on Saturday defy heavy rainfall and line up the streets with bamnes and placards to give a rousing welcome to Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum after a month- long vacation.
The crowd displayed deep admiration and chant praises to the governor who had gone on holiday abroad while his deputy, Umar Kadafur held sway as the acting Governor .
Zulum who waved profusely at crowd in acknowledgement of their cheers said his administration will continue adopt practical measures to combat huger and fight insecurity.
The Governor stated that his remaining three years in office will witness more agricultural transformation where farmers will have unhindered access to their farmlands and make food available for all.
Zulum added that more deliberate steps will be employed to empower youths and make them more productive citizens of the state.
” We have put in place additional measures to support our farmers across the state . We will also pay greater attention to empowering our youths and address issues of unemployment .” henceforth we shall concentrate on farming and expand the areas for cultivating lands so that we can increase food production in the state.
The government will provide more seeds to farmers and we shall partner with the federal government of Nigeria to ensure food sustainability and security.
” We shall continue to provide dividends of democracy more than what we have done in the past. I know there are challenges in our society, especially the issue of food scarcity. But I think it is a temporary state of being, we shall overcome it by the grace of God.” Zulum said.
The Governor also condemned the recent suicide bombing attacks in Gwoza Local Council and blamed saboteurs for the ugly incident the claimed over 30 lives. He assured the state government is already taking proactive measures to prevent a occurrence.
“What happened in Gwoza was very unfortunate, especially now that we are celebrating the end or exit of Boko Haram in our state. I believe this is an act of sabotage coming at this time. This is because we have been looking forward to see how we could finally resettle the people back to their communities. I think some persons are against the resettlement agenda of Borno State.” Governor Zulum said.
