House Of Reps Committee Commends TB Managers, Promises More Fund
The House of Representatives Committee on AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has commended the efforts of TB managers in Nigeria and assured them of more support.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Amobi Godwin-Ogah gave the commendation in Lagos at a Tuberculosis Law Retreat organized by the Stop TB Partnership and Lawyers Alert.
He said the committee was impressed with enormous work TB managers are doing even with just 18% of Global Fund resources.
Godwin-Ogah said the House of Representatives would ensure more funds for TB programmes to enhance the work of the TB Managers.
He said the House of Representatives would enact law that would prohibit stigmatisation and discrimination against TB patients in Nigeria.

The event was attended by Members of the National Assembly, officials of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, national and international experts, and people affected by TB.The lawmakers and stakeholders had dialogue on strengthening the legal framework governing Tuberculosis (TB) in the country.
Tuberculosis is one of the deadly diseases causing unwarranted and untimely death across the world and Nigeria has the highest TB burden in Africa as the country contributes 19 percent of TB burden in the continent and ranked 6th among the high burden countries globally.
