State Visit: Tinubu To Inaugurate Ojota-Opebi Link Bridge, Other Landmark Lagos Projects

LAGOS, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu will, on Wednesday and Thursday this week, inaugurate six major infrastructure projects executed by the Lagos State Government.
At a joint news conference in Alausa, Ikeja, on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, said the projects reflect strategic investments in transportation, education, agriculture, and governance. He spoke alongside key officials, including the Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, and Special Advisers on Works, Infrastructure, and E-GIS. Mr Omotoso listed the projects to be inaugurated as the Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building, and a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President. Others include the redeveloped Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle, the Mid-Level Agro-Produce Hub in Abijo, Ibeju-Lekki, and projects along the Lekki-Epe Expressway corridor. He expressed confidence that the projects would not only address immediate infrastructure needs but also serve as enduring legacies for future generations. The Ojota–Opebi Link Bridge, a major highlight of the inauguration, is expected to ease traffic congestion across key corridors such as Maryland, Ojota, Opebi, and Allen, improving mobility and reducing travel time within the Ikeja axis. Similarly, the Multi-Agency Complex is designed to bring several government agencies under one roof, enhancing efficiency, coordination, and service delivery, while the Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building is expected to modernise land administration. In the education sector, the Tolu Schools Complex, comprising 36 schools and serving thousands of pupils, has undergone a comprehensive transformation, with modern classrooms, laboratories, ICT facilities, and inclusive infrastructure. The Mid-Level Agro-Produce Hub in Abijo is also expected to boost agricultural value chains and improve food logistics along the Lekki-Epe corridor. Mr Omotoso assured residents that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth, secure, and successful presidential visit, urging the public to cooperate with authorities, especially in areas where traffic and security measures may be enforced. Meanwhile, the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, has advised residents to plan their movements ahead of the two-day visit. He said that over 500 traffic officers would be deployed to manage vehicular movement, particularly around the Ojota–Opebi corridor, where temporary restrictions will be in place during the inauguration. According to him, routes around Lagos Island, including Bourdillon Road via Falomo and Alfred Rewane Road, will also experience intermittent restrictions. Mr Bakare-Oki appealed for patience and cooperation, assuring residents that normal traffic flow would resume after the President’s convoy passes.
