APC Meeting: Tension As Gbenga Daniel Arrives With Large Entourage, Denied Entry Over Accreditation Rules

A former Governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, on Monday declined to enter the venue of a crucial stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District following a disagreement over entry protocol for his supporters.

The meeting, held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, was convened by party leaders and stakeholders across the district.

Eyewitnesses said Gbenga Daniel arrived at the venue with a large entourage conveyed in three coaster buses. Security officials, however, denied entry to the group, citing accreditation guidelines restricting attendance to approved participants.

Sources at the venue explained that the event was strictly limited to accredited APC stakeholders from the Ogun East caucus, with clear instructions that only listed participants would be allowed access and vehicles were restricted from entering the premises for security and logistical reasons.

It was gathered that while the former governor was accredited and permitted entry, he reportedly insisted that members of his entourage be allowed into the hall alongside him.

Security personnel declined the request after determining that several members of the entourage were not on the approved list.

Following the disagreement, Gbenga Daniel reportedly refused to enter the venue and left the premises.

Party officials maintained that accreditation rules were uniformly enforced and necessary to ensure orderliness and the smooth conduct of the meeting.

The meeting later proceeded without disruption, with stakeholders deliberating on key party matters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
