INEC To Conduct Bye Election In Kebbi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kebbi State has announced 20th of June, 2026, for the bye election in Zuru Local Government Area to replace the vacancy created following the death of the speaker, Kebbi state house of assembly, the late Muhammad Usman Ankwai.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kebbi State (REC), Abubakar S. Pawa Danbo gave the hint on Monday during a stakeholders meeting held in Birnin Kebbi.

Danbo also urged members of the public to use the last lap of continuous voter registration to register and obtain their permanent voters cards.

He expressed that Kebbi state is among the three states leading in voter registration even as he asked them not to relent in their efforts to register, saying PVC is the civic right of every eligible voter.

” Please use the last lap to register and obtain your PVCs as they are the pillars which democracy is resting on.” He stated.

The third stakeholders meeting was attended by different political parties, civil society organizations and security agencies in Kebbi state as critical stakeholders in any elections in the country.
