Lawyer Petitions AIG Zone 2 Over Intimidation, Harassment Of Client By ‘Ita-Agan Baale’…Accuses Supol Rasaki Basiru, Eki Paulinus As ‘Enforcers’ Of Illegal Arrest, Detention
A Lagos lawyer, Mr Benson Enikuomehin has petitioned the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 , Onikan over constant intimidation and harassment of his client Mr Olasimbo Popoola by one Abiye Akinmuleya, who prides himself as Baale of Ita-agan, using officers from Ilado Police Post and Alakija Police Station to terrorise the area.
Enikuomehin in a letter sighted by our correspondent said one Supol Razaki Bashiru and Mr Eki Paulinus from the aforementioned police stations are being used by Akinmuleya to carry out the nefarious activities.
Enikuomehin, in a petition signed by Peter Adejoh Esq of Benson Enikuomehin and co chambers, said it’s considering taking legal action against those involved in the illegal activities, but would like to inform the police authority at Zone 2 to take over the matter so that the erring officers can be called to order as a matter of urgency.
The petition read in parts:
“We are solicitors to Mr.Olasimbo Popoola (hereinafter referred to as “our client”) on whose mandate and express instruction we address this letter to your exalted office for urgent attention.
“Our client is a fisherman who resides at Iton-agan community, opposite Liverpool Jetty in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
“Our brief is that one Mr Abiye Akinmuleya has constituted himself a menace on the peaceful coexistence with our client and other community leaders in Iton-agan community.
“He enjoys the constant patronage and support of the Police at llado Police Post and Alakija Police Station.
“He has constantly and consistently used the Police to harass and intimidate law abiding citizens in the community without any just cause.
“The said Abiye Akinmuleya prides himself as the Baale of Iton-agan community and requests everyone to pay obeisanee to him willy-nilly failure upon which,he beckons on the Police at llado Police Post and Alakija Police Station to get the person arrested.
“This is his stock in trade in particular,he uses Supol Razaki Bashiru with telephone number:08033961313 and one Mr.Eko Paulinus to carry out his nefarious activities.
“On Saturday,9 May,2026,this power-hungry,Abiye Akinmuleya went to our client’s house and caused the wanton destruction of the shops being constructed by our client.
“The shops were mainly attached to our client’s property.Without provocation,Mr.Abiye Akinmuleya went to his cohorts in the Police to stop the construction and threatened to arrest our client.
“Our law office wrote a letter addressed to Mr.Akinmuleya on the 11th of May,2026 and copied the Police, intimating the Police of the need to steer clear off land matters.
“When our client resumed the construction of the shops today (13″May,2026),Supol Razaki Bashiru of llado Police Post came to stop the work and served our client with an invitation to come to the Area Command at Alakija.
“We are worried that despite the training, retraining and teaching that the high commands in the Police have given to their officers, rank and file,a good number of the Police Officers (as exemplified by the Police in llado Police Post)have refused to imbibe the tenets of decency and responsibility.
“They have constituted themselves as tools of oppression to unscrupulous persons such as Abiye Akinmuleya who can pay them peanuts,so as to instigate them against peace loving persons.
“We are considering the option of filling appropriate actions in court against the police and the persons who are involved in this sordid act,but as conscientious Legal Practitioners,we feel constrained to bring this fact to your attention,to ensure that these erring officers can be called to order as a matter of urgency.
“The Police have absolutely nothing to do with adjudication on land matters, let alone, obstructing and arresting a man constructing shops in front of his house and on his land.
“We urge you sir,to take over the investigation of this matter and appropriately caution the excesses of the officers at llado Police Post and Alakija Area Command.”
