2027:Atiku Emerges ADC Presidential Candidate

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was on Wednesday night, declared winner of the African Democratic Party (ADC) primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections, having polled a total number of 1,846,370.

The pronouncement was made in Abuja after the committee saddled with the responsibility collated and counted votes that streamed in across the 36 states and Abuja.

After the exercise, Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi trailed behind the winner with 504, 117 votes cast.

Alhaji Mohammed Hayatudeen, another contestant, came third with a total votes of 177,120.

While registered members are 3, 113,599, total votes cast was 2, 527,977.

Announcing the results, Tunde Ogbeha, the chairman of the electoral committee said: “Having satisfied the highest score in a keenly contested direct primary election of our party, it is my privilege and honour to declare Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the party candidate for the 2027 general election.”

Atiku was later handed the party flag as a symbol of his victory.

The ADC Presidential election was reportedly marred with irregularities following alarm raised by former Rivers State governor Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen.
